For the first time, the TÜV Rheinland, one of the certified test authorities for output figures, has measured a COP value over 5.0 for solar/water heat pumps: it tested Waterkotte's DS 5017.5 AI and found the high efficiency of 5.026. The test point B0/W35 underlies this COP. B0 stands for a solar input temperature of 0 °C and W35 for a water outlet temperature (flow) of 35 °C. The rated heating output of the DS 5017 is 17 kW. The COP of 5.026 is calculated from an adjusted average heat output of 13.277 kW with an electrical power consumption (according to EN 14511) of 2.642 kW.
